Woodbridge Museum



Explore the history of mental health services in Singapore via artefacts, documents, and photographs from the old Woodbridge Hospital in Yio Chu Kang. Read about hospital life and mental health services and take a glimpse at the hospital’s early years.

Highlights

  • A large three-dimensional model of the old Woodbridge Hospital, handmade by patients in the early 1970’s.
  • A straitjacket used to strap down patients to prevent them from hurting themselves or others. Such jackets are no longer in use.
  • Instruments used to carry out post-mortems when Woodbridge Hospital was converted into a military hospital during the Japanese Occupation.
