Memories at Old Ford Factory



Catch a glimpse of life in Syonan-To (Singapore) during the Japanese Occupation at Singapore’s latest World War II attraction. Start by walking up the very same ceremonial route that the British forces took on the day of the surrender. Imagine how the British army surrendered to the Japanese forces in the original Board Room where this took place.

Highlights

  • A granite stone inscribed with a Tang dynasty verse entitled 'Taking History as a Lesson', specially calligraphed by Mr Choo Thiam Siew, President of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
  • Be inspired by the calligraphic sculpture by award-winning local artist, Mr Chua Boon Kee. Entitled 'He Ping' or Peace, it signifies the relief and calm brought by the end of war.
  • Wartime Garden: Discover wartime crops, such as sugarcane and tapioca, and a replica rainwater harvesting system.
